Hike to Fagradalsfjall volcano?

This is a lifetime experience that you should not miss. The Land of Fire and Ice is truly living up to its nickname these days. In April 2021, a volcano erupted on Reykjanes Peninsula, where Iceland's main airport, Keflavik International Airport, is located. The Icelandic peninsula hadn't seen an eruption in 781 years, so it is quite rare. Do not miss to witness this amazing and spectacular volcanic eruption.

 

Go into Landmannalaugar?

We drive into the highland to the nature reserve of Landmannalaugar. On our way to the reserve we drive past the roots of Hekla volcano, perhaps one of the best known volcanos on the island. The reserve is an unique place in a geological aspect. The bedrock in the ares consists mainly of rhyolite, a sour rock known for it‘s variable colors, red, yellow, green and blue, coloring the landscape just for our pleasure.

 

Visit the Black sand beach?

With its enormous basalt stacks, roaring Atlantic waves and stunning panoramas, Reynisfjara is widely considered to be the most beautiful example of Iceland’s black sand beaches.

 

Do a glacier walk?

A glacier walk can be taken on various glaciers inland and on the south coast with experienced glacier guides and the right equipment for safety. A perfect activity if you go on a tour on the south coast.

When you are in Iceland you really should try bathing in a geothermal spring. They are “all over the place”. The most famous one (and according to National Geograpich, on of the world‘s 25 wonders) is Blue lagoon, close by the volcano.

 

Visit the Westfjords?

To visit the westfjords is an experience that you will never forget. It is beautiful and dramatic and it will be an adventure. If you are lucky you might spot an killer whale in one of the fjords.

Go diving in Silfra?

In Thingvellir National Park is a beautiful lake with crystal clear glacial water. This lake “Silfra” is a crack in the Earth ripped open by the movement of the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. In this lake you can go snorkeling and it is an adventure. Is this something for you?

Over half of the world´s population of the Atlantic Puffin breeds in Iceland, somewhere between 3 - 4 million pairs each year. The total population of puffins in Iceland is estimated to be between 8 and 10 million birds.

Seeing the aurora borealis is on the bucket list of many, and Iceland is one of the best places in the world to catch sight of them. To watch the lights dancing in brilliant displays of green, purple, red, blue and white is an unreal experience that you will not want to miss.

Go to Þingvellir National Park?

Þingvellir (Thingvellir) is a historic site and national park in Iceland, east of Reykjavík. It's known for the Alþing (Althing), the site of Iceland's parliament from the 10th to 18th centuries. On the site are the Þingvellir Church and the ruins of old stone shelters. The park sits in a rift valley caused by the separation of 2 tectonic plates.

Meet the Icelandic horse?

The horses of Iceland are the original Viking horses and one of the purest horse breeds in the world. The breed has been isolated on the rugged island in the North-Atlantic since the settlement, or over 1000 years ago, without any genetic input from other breeds.

They are a so-called gaited horses. This means that most Icelandic horses have two extra gaits to offer besides walk, trot and canter/gallop. The extra gaits that set the Icelandic horse apart from other breeds are called tölt and flying pace.

If you are visiting Iceland it is a fantastic way to experience the nature from the back of an horse.

Thórsmörk is a mountain ridge in Iceland that was named after the Norse god Thor. It is situated between the mountain glaciers of Tindfjallajökull and the world famous Eyjafjallajökull. When you go into Thórsmörk you need a super jeep because the roads are ruff and very beautiful.

The sagas of Icelanders (Icelandic: Íslendingasögur), also known as family sagas, are one genre of Icelandic sagas. They are prose narratives mostly based on historical events that mostly took place in Iceland in the ninth, tenth, and early eleventh centuries, during the so-called Saga Age.

They are focused on history, especially genealogical and family history. They reflect the struggle and conflict that arose within the societies of the early generations of Iceland
One of the writers of sagas is Snorri Sturluson (1179-1241) was an Icelandic historian, poet, and politician. He was elected twice as lawspeaker of the Icelandic parliament, the Althing.

There are many interesting places to visit for the person that are interested in the sagas, the Vikings in them and to listen to the guide that tell you parts of the sagas.
